- The Medical School Class of 2018 started this movement at our school when they organized the first “die-in,” which occurred nationally on 12/10/2014, International Human Rights Day.
- In the beginning of the 2015-16 school year, many first and second year medical students starting meeting regularly to talk about racial justice and racism in healthcare and our school. We organized another demonstration on December 10, 2015.
- This group became “official” in the beginning of the 2016-17 school year when we registered as a student group with SUA/Medical School Student Council. We organized another protest on 1/17/2017, around the same time as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and with the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States. We organized two lunch lectures during the 2016-17 school year about structural racism in healthcare. We also launched the Climate Survey in 2017 to collect experiences of micro-aggression our community.
